"Beyond the Wall" brought the expected epic spectacle of a GoT second-to-last season episode, and also a bit of bewilderment along with it. Never before on the show has the plot motivation behind a conflict or the concept of time felt so implausible. But hey, that dragons vs. ice zombie battle though! Here's this week's power rankings. Check out the previous week's edition here.
10.) gendry / jorah / tormund / the hound / beric
Damn, I thought these guy's plan to go beyond the wall and meet the army of the dead head on was foolproof, can't believe something went wrong! The biggest surprise of this whole episode for me was that only one major member of this suicide squad ended up dying. Gendry's ability to teleport ravens to places thousands of miles away can be very useful, apparently. Shoutout to the Hound and Tormund for top-notch comic relief!
9.) Littlefinger
8.) sansa
7.) Arya
Um, what the hell is going on at Winterfell? I was baffled by every scene that these three were in. The only way this can be redeemed is if Sansa and Arya are actually turning the tables on Littlefinger by deceiving him into thinking that they're fighting with each other. Because if not, Arya is just a bitch and Sansa's a dumbass. That's not an opinion I want to have of two of our main protagonists. I hope Bran's busy during all this because he's having visions that are actually useful.
6.) tyrion
5.) Jaime
4.) Cersei
Lannister siblings reunion alert! They'll all meet at King's Landing in the finale, along with Jon, Dany, and maybe even Jaime's true love Brienne. In case you forgot, Jon, Dany, and Tyrion are deciding to meet with the Mad Queen on her home turf because...you know, plot.
3.) Daenerys
2.) Jon
1.) the night king
I'm still holding out hope for some backstory on this dude that will actually make him and the White Walkers compelling characters, but for now...what a throw of that ice javelin!
Like "Hardhome" before it, "Beyond the Wall" made us appreciate the chilling evilness of the Walkers and their zombie army. Luckily, it appears that they can't travel distances at nearly the same speed as some other characters on the show can (...but now they have an ice dragon). We'll have to see what all our favorite characters decide to do about them on the season finale this Sunday!
